The Windsor Plaza Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City became the first locally-owned private hotel in Vietnam to get five-star status.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism conferred the status Saturday on the hotel owned by Van Thinh Phat Co. and built at an estimated VND1.3 trillion (US$ 81 million).
The city’s 10th five-star hotel – situated in District 5 – has 25 stories and 405 rooms with the first four floors housing the bustling An Dong commercial center.
It also houses a conference facility and entertainment complex which includes a 1,000 guest discotheque, five restaurants, a casino, games room, and fitness center.
