An Giang to spend VND 6 billion on Mekong Festival

VND 6 billion is expected to be spent on the first Mekong Festival 2006 due to take place in the southern province of An Giang from February 23 to 26.

The festival is estimated to attract 300,000 visitors to An Giang during the four-day festival. A tourism-trade exhibition with 300-400 booths, an orchard-food festival, a tour guide contest, a workshop on developing tourism in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta, and sporting tournaments will be held in Long Xuyen during the festival.

There'll also be music performances by the Kinh, Cham, Khmer, and Chinese-Vietnamese people, a Tan Chau and My A silk show, and an exhibit of An Giang's famous handmade articles.
