Volunteers to help clean up Vietnam’s shores

The program, launched Saturday, is a joint effort of the Center for Marine Conservation and Community Development (MCD) – a non-government organization working to preserve marine life based in Hanoi, the Bureau of Aquatic Products Resource Exploitation and Conservation under Vietnam’s Ministry of Fisheries, and other provincial agencies concerned.

The volunteers are to collect garbage and non-biodegradable objects on beaches as well as record, classify, and quantify the rubbish to help raise community awareness of the environmental problem to the litter.

MCD, an active member of Vietnam's marine conservation network, serves to provide relevant technical advice and support to governmental agencies and local coastal communities to promote effective management of the country’s coastal environment and resources.
